Advanced outpatient care center going up on King of Prussia Road
IMC held topping out ceremonies on April 8th on a multispecialty outpatient facility for the University of Pennsylvania Health System. The event on the Radnor site was attended by IMC’s construction team, Penn Medicine’s Steve DiMambro, Penn Medicine Radnor’s Associate Executive Director, Tracey Commack and representatives from all the departments at the facility.
IMC Construction, a nationally-recognized, full-service construction company with offices in Malvern and Philadelphia, has begun construction on a one-million-square-foot apartment and retail complex in Dresher, PA.
The Promenade at Upper Dublin, a $120 million project developed by BET Investments, will bring 402 luxury apartments, a 500-car garage and 150,000 square feet of town center shops to a twenty-five-acre site in eastern Montgomery County. It is expected to be complete in the last quarter of 2020.
“Although the sheer size and complexity of the project would typically carry a longer schedule,” said Mike Ryan, IMC Construction’s Vice President of Preconstruction, “we used our BIM technology and project planning to fast-track the schedule and compress it to under two years of construction, with early occupancies in less than eighteen months.”
Clad in brick, metal and other upscale finishes, the Promenade is composed of the East and West buildings, connected by an enclosed pedestrian bridge at the second level. Ground-floor retail will be topped by four levels of apartments and extensive amenity spaces, including media and game rooms, fitness room, dog wash and doggie day care. A resort-style pool highlights the private outdoor space of the West building, while an adjacent park connects with walking trails and bike share. The complex has on-street parking in addition to the garage.
Environmental strategies include a green roof on a segment of the East building for stormwater management.
The Promenade team includes construction manager IMC Construction; architect Bernardon; interior designer Design Works; structural engineer Baker, Ingram & Associates; m/e/p Advanced Engineering; and civil engineer Gilmore & Associates.
IMC Construction, a nationally-recognized, full-service construction company, celebrated the holidays at Penn Medicine’s newly constructed Center for Healthcare Technology building with the announcement that IMC has opened an office in Center City.
“For the past 40 years we have served this region with great success from our offices in Malvern,” said Rob Cottone, President and CEO of IMC Construction. “But our work in Center City has grown exponentially. This LEED Silver, design-build structure for Penn Medicine is a perfect example of a client that is expanding in the City and in the suburbs. To be responsive, we have to be where our clients are.”
The number of Center City projects has steadily increased for IMC, as has the number of IMC employees who live in the City. The new IMC office is located at 121 South Broad Street, across from the Union League and close to public transportation.
“We see Philadelphia’s growth continuing through the next decade,” said Cottone. “We are investing in the City’s future.”
Cottone made his comments at an elegant gala at the new flagship office building at 3600 Civic Center Boulevard that IMC constructed for the University of Pennsylvania Health System. Over three hundred clients, employees and guests enjoyed dinner and live music in the dramatic, glass-enclosed lobby of the ten-story structure.
Opened in November 2018, the Center for Healthcare Technology is a southern gateway to the Penn Medicine campus and an attractive, efficient workplace environment for staff. The facility houses offices for human resources, marketing and information technology, a large childcare facility, the Investigative Drug Services pharmacy and an expansion of Penn Medicine’s Bio Bank Freezer Farm.
IMC Construction broke ground recently on a multispecialty outpatient facility for the University of Pennsylvania Health System. The four-story, 250,000-square-foot center in Radnor further expands Penn Medicine’s services throughout the region.
“This facility will provide exemplary outpatient care and contains all of the services you would find in a hospital setting with the exception of beds for overnight stays,” said Rob Cottone, President and CEO of IMC Construction. “It is a ground-up building, easily accessible by car or public transportation and highly energy efficient.”
The health center and adjacent 994-car parking garage are located at 145 King of Prussia Road, on the former BioMed site and within walking distance of the Radnor train station. Clad in brick masonry and high-performance glass, the building has abundant natural light and views of nature. It is targeted for a sustainability level of LEED Silver.
Penn Medicine Radnor will house a heart and vascular center, comprehensive cancer care, women’s health, orthopedic and rehabilitation medicine, neurosciences and other medical subspecialties, with eighteen different departments within the facility. An outpatient surgery suite includes six surgical and four endoscopy rooms, along with full radiology and laboratory services.
Brandywine Realty Trust will purchase and serve as the designated developer and manager of the site, and develop adjacent office space and a hotel. The outpatient center is expected to be complete in Spring 2020.

IMC placed the final beam at the construction site of St. Luke University Health Network’s new $40 million hospital in Quakertown.
The new hospital is being constructed as a replacement hospital for the existing Quakertown Hospital, which is landlocked in its downtown location. The new building will include 40 private patient rooms, which can be expanded to an additional 40; 17 diagnostic radiology departments with cat scan, nuclear medicine, mammography, and fluoroscopy machines; surgical and emergency departments; and a laboratory, pharmacy and cafeteria. The cafeteria will feature a large, full-service kitchen. The existing hospital will be repurposed for doctor’s offices, outpatient care and behavioral health facilities.
