From Groundbreaking to Blasting: Great Valley Project in Full Swing
IMC Construction, in partnership with Greystar, is proud to mark a major milestone in the development of the highly anticipated Great Valley Apartments Project in Malvern, Pennsylvania. The project officially kicked off with a ceremonial groundbreaking on February 18 — and it all started with a blast.
To prepare the site for construction, the project began with a critical and complex phase of rock blasting and drilling, clearing the way for future foundations.
Rock Blasting By the Numbers
- 40 days of drilling and blasting
- 4 drilling rigs operating on site
- 120,000 cubic yards of rock being removed
- 80,000 pounds of explosives (dynamite and ANFO) deployed
- 5-minute Route 29 closures during each blast to ensure public safety
This extensive effort lays the literal groundwork for the future residential community, which will bring much-needed housing to the growing Great Valley region.
The ceremony was held in collaboration with Greystar, one of the nation’s leading real estate developers, and supported by Dwell Design Studio, LLC and Nave Newell, Inc., A Howell Company, whose vision and technical expertise have been instrumental in shaping this transformative project. This groundbreaking not only celebrates the beginning of construction but also represents the shared commitment to building vibrant, thoughtfully designed communities in Chester County. With rock blasting nearing completion, the site is now being prepared for the next stage of development.
Stay tuned as IMC Construction continues to make progress on this exciting chapter in Malvern’s future.
